Hey there IPOMers! It's been awhile since I've written y'all a letter, hasn't it! Well, I'm just going to keep this short for now. I hope you all had a good 2007, and will have a great 2008. I'm just glad 2007 is over, and personally, I say, roll on January 2009, because I am sick and tired of George W! *rolls eyes* And I hope you all vote if you are eligible. It's not too late, btw, to register so you can vote in the General Election in November. So please do. :) I have not been up to very much this winter, mostly just sleeping and watching TV, unfortunately. That is all coming to an end very soon now, however, because I start up college again on January 22nd. I'm finishing up Intermediate Algebra, and taking Art Appreciation and E-Commerce as well. I had to drop two other courses unfortunately, because I was hit with a phone bill I never asked for, and now cannot afford the books for the extra courses. *shakes head* But anyway, enough complaining. What do I want to achieve this year? Well, I want to obviously work on my health. Towards the end of 2007, I crossed some important thresholds, and that's great. But there is still more I can do. I want to work on my intellectual health as well. Last year I determined that I wanted to read more books, and take in some more news media. I did quite a bit of that, awesomely! But I did drop the ball at some points. So, I want to continue those things, and I want to be a bit more creative and well-rounded in *where* I get my news media from. Last year I took an English course that was a real eyeopener about how news media works, and I want to continue building on that. I think that I should balance my media sources between both the "MSM" (which includes such things as cable news, local news programs, major & local newspapers, etc.) but also stuff that is off the beaten path (such as cable news that doesn't get as much viewership & is self-supporting - such as Democracy Now! - underground newspapers & zines, local progressive radio, the blogosphere, etc.). So yeah. :) I also want to take more time to enjoy myself. I include my IPOM duties with that. I include my interests in genealogy and history. I include my bibliophilia! I include my desire to do more blogging. I also include my interests in arts & crafts. And of course, I want to committ to my activism as well. Anyway, that's going to be it for now. No vibe list this month, I'll pick that up next month. Have a good one! Anna |
