Jesus Fucking Christ, its motherfucking June!! Yes, its JUNE!! How the HELL is it JUNE!? June I say! We're 6 months into 2004! Where in God's name does all the time go? February was like the slowest month ever and then BAM! fucking June! So I didn't write a letter last month. BAD PHIL! Bad webmaster. Sorry. Somewhere in between catching up at work and graduating from college, and trying to get this really hot woman at work, I got a bit busy. So, where do I start? Let me start with the obligatory Metallica stuff. I WILL write a review of my trip. I promise. However, it won't be anytime soon. End of summer, likely. I have two business trips this month alone. Also, I haven't really even looked at what Metallica has done on the road since I stopped being on the road with them. I just haven't had the time. But I hope all you east-coasters enjoyed your shows! If you saw songs I didn't, may you burn in hell! =) Chronologically speaking, I'll move on to a very wonderful new part of my life. I snagged myself a girlfriend (for those who saw me at the first LA show, the woman I was with after the show, at the time, as a friend). I asked Lynn out on a date while temporarily back in town between segments of being on the road with Metallica -- and I asked her to go out with me when I got back in town. Fast forward a few weeks/dates later and she's my girlfriend! The funny thing is that 3 jobs ago (for me... same job for her), she was my boss' boss. Now she's just a co-worker. A handful of people at work know -- those we're friends with. The rest don't... and its kinda funny. Without going into too much detail about our relationship, let me just say that Lynn is a Godsend. She is absolutely the smartest woman I've ever met in my life. And she's one of the most caring, generous, and genuine people I've ever met. So, to take a related segway back to Metallica for a moment, Lynn and I went and saw Some Kind of Monster in Hollywood together, and it was once again, a fucking awesome movie! Lynn, who likes Metallica, but isn't a huge fan like myself, was quite impressed herself. It was my second time seeing it. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone! So, then I went and got myself semi-graduated. Josh, my best friend from Florida, flew out for it and stayed for two weeks, and my parents came out for four days. And of course Lynn was there. So, you ask, what is semi-graduated? Well, if I hadn't taken my job, I would have graduated... but instead, I have 4 classes left, and will graduate next summer. But I wanted to walk with all the people I spent hundreds of hours studying with. So I walked. It was an odd experience. I don't think it was quite as big to me as it could have been simply because I didn't take a class this spring (due to being on the road with Metallica), so I had kind of forgotten about school. But it was still a cool feeling to be "graduating" (even if it was psuedo-graduation). Plus having my friends and family all there was really nice. So, on Thursday I'm off to Hawaii. No, not vacation, work. Well, I may be sneaking in a little surfing. =) But I am going to 2 conferences back-to-back for work. Then at the end of June I go to Colorado for another conference -- but I gotta present at that one! What else? I had a big party on Saturday to celebrate my graduation, and really-late birthday, and to have an excuse to buy a big keg of good beer. It was a LOT of fun! I'd like to get more updates hapening here at IPOM, but it's been very hard. I'm behind on all my side projects. I haven't forgotten though. Well, I think that's about all on this front. See ya'll next month, I hope! Phil |
