Before I start anything, I'd like to make sure EVERYONE goes and reads Matt's parting letter of the month. And I'd like to say to Matt and Effie: we love you and our thoughts are with you. Good luck man. Well, last time I wrote I was about to leave for Hawaii. Wow, that seems like so long ago. Like, really, really, really long ago. Wow. So, I went to Hawaii. Thursday morning I left for the airport and took the long flight to Honolulu. I can not begin to describe how incredibly gorgeous the oceans there are. As the plane descends you are just mesmerized by the water. Wow. Conference was Friday - Thursday. I went to more of the talks then most people, but still managed to skip out for some long lunches and a few swims. I wasn't there with anyone I knew, so as wonderful as it was to be in Hawaii, I actually got bored quite a bit. But I had internet access all around the resort and in the conference, and from Monday-Thursday in my room as well. Thursday was a half day with nothing of interest, so Thursday I spent the day surfing. As of then, I was on my own, so I checked into a cheap hotel a few blocks up the road (I was in Waikiki), and spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday surfing all day long. The surf was great! Much better waves than LA, and the water was actually warm! Sunday I packed slowly, and then realized I had two hours before I needed to leave: not enough time to do much of anything. So I called the airport and found there was an earlier flight in an hour (which meant I would get in early enough to go see my girlfriend!). I raced the airport and wasn't there a minute and a half too late to check my bags on the earlier flight. After some pleading and flattering I found out I could get on the flight and check my bags on the later flight. So I got home safely, went to my girlfriends house for a few hours, then back to the airport to pick up my luggage. Just as soon as I was mostly caught up with things, I had to leave for Colorado for another conference. This time I went with a ton of people from work, and the talks were a lot more applicable then at the Hawaii conference. Lots of fun was had in the bar after the talks each night. =) What else? Lynn and I went to see Some Kind of Monster on Thursday, for the second time (my third time total). We both thoroughly enjoyed it again. You find new stuff everytime you see it. I can't recommend this movie enough! So cool!! I saw Spider-Man 2 last weekend... and this weekend. Also a great movie! So much fun! Can't wait for Spider-Man 3! Work is getting busier and busier unfortunately, but ah well, that's part of life. Lynn and I are doing really well. Its continuing to be a very balanced and healthy relationship. Lots of new stuff for both of us. Very cool. As you can see the letters are only about a week behind this month instead of a month behind. I'm pulling things back on schedule shortly. I hope to start working on the review of my Madly In Anger trip soon! I know, it's taking longer than last time. I'm sorry. Oh, a branch fell through the roof of my car. How much does THAT suck?? Tomorrow I have the roof of my car replaced. I walk out of my girlfriend's place on the 4th of July and there is a palm-tree branch sticking out of the roof of my car. Gah. Well, that's about it for now. Later. Phil |
