What is IPOM?

IPOM began back in about July of 1997, when webmaster Phil found AOL's homepage maker and decided he wanted to get his Metallica knowledge to anyone who wanted to find it. When he realized how bad that idea was, he decided to learn HTML. Learning HTML, and then redesigning a rather large scale Metallica site, IPOM was born (for the actual second time, but we consider its actually conception) August 9, 1997.

Since then we've redesigned many parts of the site, taken things down, put things up, and Phil has learned a lot more than HTML (Perl, CGI, and more). Some really great people have come on board to help out. These wonderful Metallica fans are Dave, Annaleigh, Doug, and most recently Pablo.

On June 5, 1999, we moved IPOM to www.ipom.com, and made the site fully interactive. We also added a ton of new sections, and more! Real-time updates, and Message Boards are only a couple of the additions that came with the new version of the site.

Through all these changes, one thing has remained exactly the same, and that's our purpose. Our purpose is to bring you the most Metallica information as soon as possible. That includes the best news, the most accurate tour information, and lots of Metallica related fun stuff too!
