05/02/10 Campaign for South NZ show [link]
New Zealand fans were excited when Metallica announced their long-awaited return to their country. But many on the southern island were disappointed to find out there was only one show and it was in Aukland. So a fan and mother in Christchurch, Andrea Grom, started a Facebook page, "Bring Metallica to Christchurch," attracting 11,731 members. However, Christchurch is a small town. The tour is for indoor arenas, which rules out AMI Stadium, the only potential Christchurch venue to hold crowds of between 10,000 and 20,000. Christchurch's next-biggest venue, the Westpac Arena, holds 9000 people, but only half that with the tour's special stage. Auckland's Vector Arena, with a capacity of 12,000, is one of the smallest venues on the group's world tour.

Grom is hoping that doing two sold-out shows at the Westpac Arena would work and that the promoters will see her page.
