Holy Shit! What can I say? It was one of the all time greatest fucking days of my life. Actually, there's a pretty funny story to the whole thing (well it's funny to me). I had just found out about the Metallica Club at the beginning of the year when I had just gotten Internet on my computer. So, of course being a very big fan, I automatically went to the Metallica site to check it out because I had never seen it before. And that's where I had first found out about the Sanitarium tour. So I saw the club and I figured I could get good seats if I got the membership. So in the middle of February I joined and waited for the presale so I could get the tickets. But things didn't go the way I thought they would. I didn't know they limited you to 4 tickets and I had to buy like 10 tickets and so I thought I was fucking screwed now. So I just got up really early in the morning when they had the regular sale and got them then. So, even though I didn't get the seats I wanted I was still excited as hell that I was going to see Metallica for the first time in just 6 months. But then a couple weeks later they posted this thing on the site that there was going to be a set of four shows up in San Francisco to warm them up for the big tours. So, I entered, not even caring whether I would win or not because I knew that was way to big of a prize and I had never won anything before in my life. But sure enough, a couple weeks later I got an e-mail that said I had won a fucking free Metallica show in San Francisco. So, I thought it was funny because I thought I was going to have to wait six months to see the boys for the first time but I ended up seeing them a couple weeks after I had joined the damn club.

So anyways... Sanitarium was fun as all hell. Tons of people came with me: lots of friends and even my mom. I met up with some people there too. I saw a lot of people from school, so that was pretty cool. We all piled into two cars and drove to downtown L.A. Traffic was really fucking bad though so we missed Mudvayne's performance. And we also had to pay forty fucking dollars for parking, but it was all worth it. Some of our seats were in Section 8 row 61, but some friends got floor tickets so they got to be down on the ground. I didn't pay much attention to the other bands that played. Linkin Park was the only one that I saw their whole show. And I saw Limp Bizkit play that famous The Who song, "Behind Blue Eyes". I won't lie. I was singing along. But that was it for me. The rest of the time, I walked around the place and looked around. I went over to the MetClub booth and ran into some friends from the MetChat. We talked for a while and then I left to go meet up with my friends in the seats. There were a lot of interesting things going on at the same time. Strange fights broke out in the crowd and there were lots and lots and lots of drunk people... everywhere. And that drunk guy that wanted a stamp punched poor Phil in the face ( I still feel bad about that, dude!). But anyways, I met a lot of really fucking awesome people there including Phil and Mareea, and I know Toby was around I just don't remember exactly seeing him. And talked to some others around me in the seats.

So finally Metallica hit the stage, I don't remember what time it was, like 8 or 9 pm. Of course, starting off with Ecstasy of Gold, which was really awesome because everyone had their lighters out and the coliseum was lit. Then went right into Battery and so on into the set list. Frantic and St.Anger were AMAZING. Very fucking cool. Fuel was one of the highlights of the night, I love that song live. And of course when Lars and Kirk switched positions during Nothing Else Matters, now that was classic. One moment that left me on the floor laughing was when James came up to the microphone and he was thanking all the support bands for being there. He said, "Thank you Mudvayne!", then the crowd cheered, then he said, "Thank you Deftones!", then everyone cheered, then he said, "Thank you Linkin Park!" then everyone cheered, then he said, "Thank you Limp Bizkit!", and everyone BOOED really loud. Then James said, "Well at least some of us were happy they were here". I think it was something like that, but that was really funny, the way he reacted to the audience booing was fucking great. Seek and Destroy was really fun, too. Any song with crowd participation is automatically a highlight of any show. I also really enjoyed Blackened, that is a very classic live song, especially with all the fire, I could feel the fire all the way from where I was standing, man that kicked ass. I don't know if I can pick a favorite song because all of them were incredible and I was standing on my chair throughout the whole concert, I was really fired up.

So, in conclusion, I had a fucking blast at Sanitarium. I had no complaints about it. Great way to see the second show of Metallica and I can't fucking wait until the next tour. Hopefully, spring tour I'll get some meet and greet, maybe.
