Most everyone knows what happened by now-James injured his back and was unable to perform, so an All-Star band was assembled to take his place. Here are a few details:

(This is totally unrelated to the Metallica set, but I think it's relevent anyway) -Korn, minus Johnathan Davis, played part of Slayer's 'South Of Heaven' during their set -Jason finger-picked the end of Seek And Destroy, rather than play with a pick
-The guitarist from Kid Rock's band soloed over the end of Seek And Destroy, as he didn't know the riff
-During Enter Sandman, all the females who had been picked from the crowd during the show came out and stood along the backline dancing. During the break before the main riff comes back in, Lars turned around, saw this, and said, "That's fucking beautiful"
-Kid Rock scratched turntables during Fuel
-Jason messed up the vocals to the 2nd verse of both Creeping Death and Bellz; he sang the same thing as the 1st verse
-Kid Rock had to read pre-taped down sheets of vocals for Sad But True and Enter Sandman, but he did know the words to Nothing Else Matters and Turn The Page
-Master Of Puppets Pt. 1- Whether they were just going to play MOP I don't know, but they actually pulled a member of the crowd onstage to sing (whose name was, oddly, Jason). Predictably, he fucked up by not only starting the vocals about two bars too soon, but also by forgetting the words completely roughly four lines in
-After a fairly long pause after the 1st attempt at Master, Jason came out and said "Daron from System Of A Down just came up and told us he knows all the old Metallica shit"; after a couple more minutes of slight rehersal, they played the Master/Sanitarium medley beautifully, with, as previously stated, only slight mistakes on Daron's part (he was off by a fret or so a couple times, but he had the timing down perfectly)
-Daron and Kirk both played the intro solo to Sanitarium; Kirk was grinning like a bastard & laughing at this

Before the show, Lars said that 'they' (I.E.: everyone involved) were going to try to put together about 90 minutes of material, but I think we got a little more than that, about 100-105 minutes. It was, to say the least, an entertaining show, I could have done without Korn's addition to the Metallica set but hey, it was all in fun, and now we get a make-up show on August 4th. So, to James, good luck healing, and to everyone else, remember to keep your bloody ticket stub.
