Note that this concert was part of a larger trip, whose details and pictures you can find here.
I got to Bercy easily. Jeff said he wouldn't need me in Paris so I get there a bit late and Jeff said he'd throw my stuff in his office and get it back to me after the show. Sweet. I walked around kinda bored mostly. I went up to the concourse, walked around, checked out the Guitar Hero thing. I played a song, it was kinda cool. I had forgotten my earplugs so I bought some for a whopping 5 euros! I headed back down and took a few pictures on my way.
The M&Gers got out just before The Sword started, so once they started I headed to catering to see if I could grab a snack. I wasn't very interested in what they had so I just grabbed a piece of bread and some water and headed back to the floor. I bought a Twix and then found a spot to enjoy The Sword. After they finished I sat down next to the enterance to backstage and waited. I sat through most of Machine Head's set until near the end when I thought it'd be a good time to take a bathroom break. I then found another spot on the 'bridge' from backstage to the stage which wasn't very croweded and waited for Metallica to come on.
They put on a hell of a show. Paris was a much better audience and it made for a much better show. As the show went on I kept getting closer and closer as people moved without any effort. Even Machine Head made comments about Paris kicking the shit out of Rotterdam. We got a great setlist too: Judas Kiss and Stone Dead Forever!!! That was my first time seeing both! Judas is definitely my favorite DM song and I was so fucking stoked to hear it! It's amazing live! Energy was incredibly high, everyone was singing loud and having fun. I managed to snap quite a few pictures of the show.
After the show I went back to meet Jeff. He gave me my stuff and then I went to go get water where they gave me a massive 2 liter bottle which I happily totted home. I said goodnight to Jeff and his helpers and headed off for the metro.
I found my way back to Bastille (which was near my hotel) and went looking for food before sleep. Another show in yet another country with 2 more new songs and after hanging around the beautiful Paris all day! Today was just a fantastic day.
