Note that this concert was part of a larger trip whose details and pictures you can find here.

As with many venues, finding the back was a bit tricky, but finding Jeff's office proved to be trickier tonight. Jeff had called to let us know he wouldn't need us tonight, so we just wanted to drop off our stuff in his office, but he was busy with the M&G. We waited around for him, but eventually went looking again, found it, and headed out to go watch The Sword.

We then went to go grab dinner (sorry, we're not huge Machine Head fans) in catering and saw Jeff and Tori. After Jeff left the drummer from The Sword came in and sat with his band mates (who had been quiet enough prior to this that we hadn't noticed them). We somehow all got in a hypothetical - and hysterical - discussion about him being a king, and we made suggestions as to how he could get subjects.

It was then time to go enjoy Metallica. We found a decent spot on the floor and got ready. The set was fantastic! First, we got The Judas Kiss! We also got No Leaf Clover and The Wait! Just brilliant!

Kyle and I were just right of center near the back of the floor; but we noticed something very, very strange about the crowd. There was this odd thing where people thought they could leave (to go to the bathroom, get a beer, whatever), and when they got back, they would get their spot back. On the floor. In a crowd. What the fuck? And what's even more weird is that this seemed to be something everyone understood and supported, so people would kinda push everyone out of the way to get back to where they were and people would then push other people to get that person their spot back. Really? This is the floor at a Metallica show! You leave, too fucking bad! I was not OK with this. Several times I had moved up only to have very angry people come back and want their spot back.

Much like in Munich, the drunks had been armed with large and heavy projectiles in the form of pitchers - and this crowd seemed even more excited about throwing them around. At one point it was bad enough that James said, "Please stop throwing stuff up here, we have enough stuff. We don't want to trip" which seemed to help a bit.

After the show we went back to say hi/bye to Jeff, Filip and Dennis, but there was some drama about someone who Jeff had told to leave. As it turns out, Kat had shown up for the show so we got to see her as well. After hellos and goodbyes Kyle and I went off to get some sleep.
