Note that this concert was part of a larger trip whose details and pictures you can find here.
We headed to the venue early, and it was quiet insane. It was a big oval with these sorta cut-outs at the ends.
Kyle's picture (the first one above) came out much better than mine. Anyway, we couldn't find backstage - every door around the floor led outside! We ran into Jeff near the Guitar Hero stand and he didn't need us that night, but showed us the well hidden entrance (a staircase in the floor) to backstage and we dropped off our stuff. We were there early enough to work, but since Jeff didn't need us we had a snack, played some Guitar Hero and then realized we still had a lot of time, so we headed out to go check out brothel tower that the sightseeing book had said was a must-see.
When we got back to the venue, we b-lined for catering for dinner. After dinner we ran into Dot who follows Machine Head. She had some extra seat tickets which she gave to us! So Kyle, Dot and I headed up to our seats and we were right next to Machine Head's tour manager! The seats were first row, section D, pretty awesome! The way this venue was laid out, there was no orchestra seating, so the first row was already quite elevated, as you'll see from the pictures. This was really cool because we got to see the show from a higher angle (highly recommended!) but still be close!
Throughout this tour people have been pointing out that I look like Rob from Machine Head, and Dot took this opportunity to point me out to Alan, Machine Head's tour manager who agreed that I do in fact look a lot like him.
The setlist was amazing, we got The Outlaw Torn - the first time I've seen that outside of the S&M shows, Blackened, Too Late Too Late, and Holier Than Thou!
Afterward, went back stage to get water and say goodbye to Dot and Cheeky and Hening.
Here's a short video clip from "That Was Just Your Life" here.
After the show we went to get food at the main train station. McDonald's was packed to the brim with people - it was impossible to tell what line you were in, or if you were moving. After about 10 minutes we bailed and went to Burger King which had a very long - but single - line. We waited about 40 minutes and finally got food, and then ate while we waited for the last train of the night.
