M2K Trip 12/29/99 - 1/2/00

12/29
Fly up, meet Jean, 'A', and Ian, and saw Liz and Jameson... we all hung out in Jean's room for a while... cool people.... Then we went shopping for food and shit... the more hanging out...

12/30
PARTIES PARTIES PARTIES!
The Chapter Inc. Blots flew in at some unGodly hour of the morning... and everyone else wanted us up for breakfast before they went to pick them up at the airport.... BWAAA HAAAA HAAAA! We went to bed at 5am, and they wanted us up at fucking 9... we said no and slept till about 3:30 or so... got up and off the Chapter Inc. PARTY!!!

The party was super cool... got to talk to the Inc. Blots, including their super cool graphics girl Alex who I hadn't really gotten to talk to before... and I picked up one of the super cool shirts that she designed! The party was at a place called Gameworks. It's a video arcade place... lots of cool people lots of cool games.... lots of fun!!! But soon it was over and time to head to the next party!!

Onto the Intersandman Party. Completely different mood. I had to get out of the running around and play games and yell mood.... but it was still a cool party. Lots of awesome people, some cool swag, etc... and the fact it was in the Silverdome was pretty kickin'. Frank the metclub webmaster, along with Toby and Steve Wiig from Metclub (Steve works more with the band, but whatever) were there... very cool. Got to have some great conversations. Also a guy named Henry had a wood finish guitar the same as Hetfield's and built by the same guy that built Hetfield's. Cool guitar, nice guy!

We were supposed to party with the gang after the IS party... but that sorta fell through ::coughcough::...

12/31/99
Headed to the Venue early since we were doing some work for the club, and was amazed to find people there waiting in the cold for the doors. Maybe they heard that Snake Pit was the first 100 people on the floor, or maybe they just wanted a good spot on the floor... and they got one ;)

So work at the club booth was SUPER HECKTIC... there were sooo many people wanting passes... wow. Sevendust played about 3 seconds of Master of Puppets... stupid tease... the shirts sold out... it sucked. There were two Millennium shirts... one of them I couldn't get in any size, the other I had to take a large (instead of an XL)... that kinda sucked, but oh well. I'd rather have the experience than the shirt.

Ted Nugent rode his Buffalo onto stage!! I'm not a huge Nugent fan, but that was pretty ballsy! LOL! Then we hit the Snake Pit... a LOT more people in the pit this time... kinda sucked. Plus I was wearing my leather jacket (cause I had to wear it to walk to the venue) so I was hot as balls, and hadn't eaten since lunch.

'Tallica played EXACTLY on time... 10:05, right with the schedule said. They played for two hours (same setlist), and stopped one song short of the end. During No Leaf Clover the tape of the symphony intro mysteriously started over, and then got screwed up, so Jaymz said, "The Symphony's been sacked" and started playing. There was also sparatic sound problems and weird feedback throughout the show, but nothing overbearing or more then a second or two at a time. At 5 until midnight, they put ABC's coverage of New York City's Ball Drop on the two huge TV screens. At midnight they had a shitload of balloons and confetti drop from the ceiling, and tons of fireworks and flames and shit! They had jesters and guys in stilts, and some women in bikinis and guys in tight shorts, who all walked around the stage throwing party hats and other '2000 party favors.' Lars brought Myles on stage, and I was told that James' wife, Francesca, was also briefly on stage (but I didn't see her). Jason even took a picture of the audience with a disposable camera!! This parade-type thing went on for about 10 minutes, and then Metallica invited Kidrock and Sevendust and Ted Nugent on stage for an inter-band jam! They jammed on Detroit Rock City by Kiss, with James on main vocals. Then they left and Metallica played Phantom Lord. Then just as in Miami and Tampa they had a ton of fireworks and flames to end the show... expect there were a few more this time. Then it was over!

We headed back to the hotel room, and IPOM Gimp Dave showed up!! We hung with him for a while before we all hit the sack!!

1/1/00
Y2K didn't do much, cause I'm typing this up on a computer!! LOL! Just waiting around cause the flight leaves tomorrow!

EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to Toby Stapleton, Eric Nielsen, and Steve Wiig for everything you did for us! Also thanks to Bob Bender for helping out at the last second!!
