First things first.
Detroit is one long fucking drive away.
Anyway. Hopped in the 'rents minivan (they wouldn't let me take the 'Tallica mobile), and my buddy cancelled on me, so I drove out alone. Got there fairly early, for having arrived the same day. After sitting around for a few hours, I went and got in line. Got a couple stares at my pants, and at the tattoo underneath. After freezing my ass off they finally let us in. Soon as I got through the door, I ran into the guys and gal from Chapter Inc. I talked with Jeff and Alex for a little while, then headed over to the club booth, where I said hi to Webmaster Phil, and signed up for the preshow (which I didn't get into). Then I headed back and got a couple shirts, and then went BACK to the club table, where I talked to Phil, and met his buddy Josh. Phil introduced me to Toby, who helped me try and solve a club problem, and then I hung around for a while. Said hi to Liz, who introduced me to Jean and Jameson, both very cool people. Sat around and chatted a while, got a couple pictures taken, etc. etc.... saw A, who seemed upset with me, so I didn't really go over and talk to her (which I'm sorry for, but I can't help what I done, I wasn't trying to do nuthin bad). Anyway, I sat and chatted through Sevendust, and only took peeks at Nugent and Kid Rock (who both put on good shows). Then it was time for 'Tallica, so I went and took my seat. When the show started, I swear on my life that I'd never seen so many lighters going at one time. I've seen some very awesome and beautiful sights in my life, and I'm glad for that, but this was a sight that I don't think will be topped, and for some reason, I never have a better feeling in my body than when Ecstacy of Gold is pumping through the speakers...this was just immaculate. Beautiful. Anyway. The show. I'm not very big on reviewing shows. There's not much I can say. I won't recap every song, there's a setlist posted. I can't name highlights, because for me, I love EVERY song. All I can do is say that truthfully, there aren't but maybe 1 or 2 other things in the world...in all of this ENTIRE world, that I would trade. The world is a big place, and there is NOTHING like a Metallica show. Start to end, I loved it all, every song, every bit. And the guy on stilts was fuckin funny. Anyway. After the show I went to my car, sat a while, then dropped by Phil and Josh's hotel room. They were kind enough to let me spend the night there and I'm really grateful for that. We talked for a while, then went to bed (where I proceeded to try and go piss, and nearly broke the fucking tv). Next day I got up, and, well, went home. Long fucking drive again, but, it was the start of a 'Tallica trip that I won't forget, and a show I won't forget. Quite awesome, and if you didn't go, you should've.
