When I first heard that Metallica as going to play with an orchestra, I was a bit curious. I so wanted to be there and I was! The Berkley auditorium seemed that it would burst with the just the band tuning up. When the orchestra began with ECSTASY OF GOLD I was jazzed. I have only heard it on tape. At that point I thought that Metallica would not be heard over the S. F. Symphony. Boy, was I wrong. At different times during different songs you couldmake out one or the other. The sounds were loud and vibrating. The total experience was just awesome. If they do it again I wouldn't hesitate to buy tix. Together the two were complimentary to each other. I feel that even Metallica enjoyed the sound. Or the audience was just making a big deal. The audience was so keen into the two that you would have thought it is an every concert occurrence.
