My first Metallica show! I got there well before gates opened, and moshed and crowed surfed until it was Metallica time. Then I pushed my way to the front (I have now idea how). It was just about time for Metallica to come on and I was in what was more or less the 2nd row. This big guy with a joint next to me told me to reach around his wife and hold on to the gate really tight. I did as told, and as the first chord of So What! came, I felt 45,000 people squish into the first row. I lasted 2 songs, and then I relized I was out of my league, being 5'4 in a mass of 6 foot Rancid fans. It took t security guards to pull me out of the tight little space I was in. The wanted me to take the path tot he back, but I was gonna be damned if that was gonna happen. I ran next to the stage, and bummed $2 off a cop for water, chugged it, adn went back to the front, on the right of the stage. A guard told me I couldnt' stand there, but I told him I new the setlist by heart, cause I heard him asking about encores, so he let me stay when I told him there was one encore with 2 songs. I jammed to the rest of the concert with room and happiness. At the break before the encore Jason threw some pics my way which seemed to land behind me, and everyone in that general direction, including me went into a pile looking for it. After a minute I realized the impossibility of finding it, and turned around just to see it in front of me!!! I enjoyed the encore, and then went to find my ride. For my first Metallica concert, and my second concert ever, it was amazing!!
